In a mailing to clients from Russia, the Uzbek Ipak Yuli Bank asked to provide their personal identification number for individuals (PINFL) in order to continue using banking services, it said RBC with a link to two customer mailings and a bank support representative.

The support service reported that the requirements for obtaining PINFL were established in accordance with the instructions of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan dated February 8, 2023. Deposit accounts for resident and non-resident individuals, according to the instructions, must be opened by banks on the basis of PINFL.

The bank clarified that PINFL is not required to pay for goods and services using Ipak Yuli Bank cards, withdraw cash in a foreign network and transfers between cards. According to one of the bank’s clients, the mailing with the requirement to send PINFL only arrived on February 27. On website The bank says that foreigners can apply for a PINFL at the passport office or the Public Services Center in Uzbekistan. To obtain it, you need a passport, as well as temporary registration.
