US Department of Energy: EU countries replaced diesel imports from Russia with supplies from Saudi Arabia

Prior to the imposition of sanctions on the import of oil products from Russia by sea, the supply of diesel fuel from the Russian Federation to Northwestern Europe accounted for 53% of total imports. In February 2023, the Russian share fell to 2% – now European countries import diesel fuel from Saudi Arabia, India, China and South Korea.
As clarifies US Department of Energyimports of diesel fuel from the listed countries increased to the following indicators:
- from Saudi Arabia – up to 202 thousand barrels per day (b / d);
- from India — up to 110 thousand b/d;
- from China — up to 119 thousand b/d;
- from South Korea – up to 45 thousand b/d.
It is noted that from October 2022 to February 2023, an increased import of diesel fuel to North-Western Europe from the United States was recorded – 107 thousand bpd.
According to Refinitiv, in February 2023 Russia shipped at least 190 thousand tons of diesel fuel in the direction of the ports of Saudi Arabia. By opinion of traders surveyed by Reuters, after processing, Russian diesel can be re-exported to other countries.
