United Russia asked the Prosecutor General’s Office to conduct a mass check of fast food

Deputies of United Russia appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to conduct a mass inspection of fast food establishments and non-stationary catering outlets in the regions. The letter, signed by United Russia State Duma deputy Alexander Yakubovsky, notes that a moratorium on business inspections is hindering regular control over catering facilities. Excerpts from the letter are “News”.
In their letter, United Russia draws attention to the fact that in the summer the risk of an increase in the poisoning of consumers who purchase food in summer cafes and other non-stationary retail facilities increases. At the same time, control over trade enterprises has been suspended until the end of 2023 due to a moratorium on unscheduled inspections.
The Decree on a moratorium on conducting business inspections came into force on December 30, 2022 and will be valid until the end of 2023. Unscheduled inspections will be carried out only on instructions from the president, the government, the requirements of the prosecutor’s office, as well as on the basis of information received by the supervisory authorities about the existence of risks of violation of mandatory requirements. Scheduled inspections will be carried out only at facilities with extremely high and high risk categories.
As an example of the negative impact of the moratorium on the quality of services provided by fast food restaurants, the authors of the appeal point to a case in the Irkutsk region. June 13 and 14 in Bratsk fixed mass poisoning with shawarma. As of June 20, a total of 101 people were poisoned, of which 51 were hospitalized. The deputies are asking to instruct the prosecutor’s offices of the constituent entities of Russia to initiate inspections of fast food establishments and non-stationary outlets.
On June 15, Artush Harutyunyan, the owner, was detained as part of an investigation into the case of poisoning at the Shawarma I Want fast food cafe. According to the investigation, the requirements for food storage and cooking technology were violated in his cafe, and there were no conditions for proper personal hygiene of employees and disinfection of the premises. June 19 Artush Harutyunyan sent under house arrest. Cafe by court decision was closed.
