Unistream bank (operator of the payment system of the same name) that fell under US sanctions offered customers to use their national currency to transfer funds to foreign banks. The credit institution explained this measure by “uninterrupted mutual settlements” under restrictions.
Unistream added that they had developed a solution to continue interacting with partners as usual. The bank assured that it would be implemented “as soon as possible”, but did not provide details.
Unistream was introduced to the US sanctions list today, July 20. Operations with sanctioned banks are allowed until October 18. The restrictions include a ban on doing business with US residents, as well as a blocking of assets.
