UnionPay Russian Standard cards will stop working abroad due to sanctions

Cards of the UnionPay payment system of Russian Standard Bank, caught under new US sanctions, will stop working abroad starting tomorrow, November 3. This was reported by TASS with a link to the bank support service.
The credit institution recommended that clients abroad withdraw cash from bank cards. The commission for withdrawals on November 2-3 will be returned, the press service clarified.
Union Pay cards remain one of the few options for Russians to pay for expenses abroad. Cards of this payment system, in particular, are issued by Gazprombank, Rosselkhozbank, RRDB, Primsotsbank, and Post Bank. The latter was also included in the US sanctions package announced today, November 2.
Since the beginning of 2023, due to sanctions, UnionPay cards have stopped working abroad with Tinkoff Bank, MTS Bank, St. Petersburg, Uralsib, Zenit, Primorye, and Solidarity banks.
