UNESCO included the art of Turkmen embroidery in the list of intangible heritage

The art of Turkmen embroidery has been included in the UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage List. This is reported on website organizations.
As stated on the UNESCO website, the art of Turkmen embroidery is an arts and crafts used in the national clothes of people of all genders and ages in Turkmenistan and Iran. Needlework styles vary by region. There are no age restrictions, young girls traditionally learn embroidery from their mothers and grandmothers. In rural areas, the patterns used reveal the territorial affiliation of needlewomen. They are also used to represent love, friendship, nature, and strength. Embroidery is used in bridal wear, funeral and cultural wear, and as a decorative element in everyday wear.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported TASSthat the republic, together with Iran, applied for inclusion in the list in March 2021. The art of Turkmen embroidery added to the list of cultural heritage during the 17th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, from November 28 to December 3.
This year in list UNESCO intangible heritage also included, in particular, the culture of French baguette making, Ukrainian borsch and the tea culture of Azerbaijan and Turkey as a symbol of identity, hospitality and social interaction.
