Where UC Rusal mines raw materials and produces aluminum
The company produces alumina from bauxite at seven enterprises: the Pikalevsky and Boksitogorsk alumina refineries in the Leningrad region, the Achinsk alumina plant in the Krasnoyarsk region, the Ural aluminum plant in the Sverdlovsk region, as well as at the Friguia bauxite-alumina complex in Guinea, at Aughinish Alumina (Ireland) , Eurallumina (Italy), Windalco (Jamaica). Until 2022, production also took place at the Nikolaev Alumina Refinery in Ukraine and at Queensland Alumina Ltd in Australia.
More than 85% of the ore requirements of UC Rusal’s alumina refineries are met by supplies from the group’s bauxite and nepheline mining enterprises. These are the Severouralsky bauxite mine (Sverdlovsk region), the Timana Bauxite Company in the Komi Republic, the Kindia Bauxite Company and the Dian-Dian deposit in Guinea, and the Guyana Bauxite Company.
Among the aluminum assets of UC Rusal are 11 plants in Russia, as well as the ALSCON plant in Nigeria, Kubal in Sweden and Aluminum Rheinfelden Alloys, Semis in Germany.
