UAC opened a repair center for electronic components SSJ100

Irkut Company (part of the United Aircraft Corporation, UAC) opened a center for maintenance and repair of electronic components of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) aircraft in Zhukovsky in Russia, informed press office UAC.

Irkut Corporation (part of UAC Rostec State Corporation) opened a laboratory for the maintenance and repair of electronic and electrified components of civil aircraft systems of its own production. <...> The new laboratory is the first production site for the maintenance and repair of electronic components of the SSJ-100 aircraft in the Russian Federation, previously such types of work were carried out exclusively at foreign enterprises.

The UAC clarified that the new site is located on the territory of the Technopark of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI, part of the National Research Center “Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky”). As noted in the message of the corporation, the launch of the laboratory will expand the competence in servicing Russian aircraft SSJ-100, MC-21 and SSJ-NEW.

Irkut specialists added to UACwill be engaged in maintenance and repair of flight and navigation, lighting, radio communication, household equipment, autopilot, crew and flight attendant consoles and other electronic components of the aircraft.

In early May at Rostec reportedthat the forecast for the reduction of the SSJ-100 fleet by several times by 2030 was made back in 2022 in order to provide for the “most negative scenarios”. In the current situation, it is no longer relevant, they specified there. Prior to this, Kommersant, with reference to a letter from the manufacturer of the aircraft to the Irkut Corporation informedthat the company expects to reduce to 28 “old” aircraft out of more than 150 if it fails to master the repair of the “hot part” of foreign engines. With a positive development of events, it will be possible to save 106 liners, Irkut said.
