The director of the Binance crypto exchange in Eastern Europe, Gleb Kostarev, and the director in the CIS, Vladimir Smerkis, announced their resignation from the company.
“Friends, today is my last day at Binance. I am leaving the position of VP responsible for Eastern Europe, the CIS, Turkey, Australia and New Zealand,” wrote Gleb Kostarev on Facebook (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned).
Mr. Kostarev recalled that a few months ago he ceased to be responsible for the work of the crypto exchange in the Asia-Pacific region.
Vladimir Smerkis announced his resignation a couple of hours after Gleb Kostarev. Mr. Smerkis also announced a meeting with journalists, where he promised to talk about the reasons for leaving the company.
“If I drew my career wish cards, then the black-and-yellow brand would definitely be in it. And he was. And how. I don’t regret a single day in the company,” wrote Mr. Smerkis on Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned).
August 26 Binance restricted for Russians to trade any currency through Binance P2P (peer-to-peer, “from person to person”), with the exception of the ruble. This applies to clients who have passed the Know Your Customer (KYC) verification in Russia.
