Marketplace Ozon in the second quarter of 2023 increased its sales turnover (GMV, including services) to 372.628 billion rubles. Relative to the results of the same period last year, the indicators increased by 2.2 times, follows from the company’s unaudited financial results under IFRS (.pdf).
The net loss of Ozon in the second quarter increased by 82% and amounted to 13.087 billion rubles. The company attributed the increase in net loss to the effect of exchange rate differences and an increase in financial expenses. Total revenue for this period increased by 61% year-on-year and exceeded 94 billion rubles, revenue from the provision of services – up to 57 billion rubles. (+88%), revenue from direct sales of goods – up to 37 billion rubles. (+32%).
The company’s adjusted EBITDA decreased by 67% to RUB 62 million. According to Ozon’s forecast for GMV dynamics for the full year 2023, the figure will grow by 80-90% compared to 2022, and adjusted EBITDA for the current year will remain positive. It follows from the financial statements that the decrease in the indicator in April-June is associated with strategic investments in the growth of turnover.
The number of orders for Ozon in April-June this year increased by 131% compared to the same period last year and reached 209 million. Active buyers became almost a third more than a year earlier – 39.5 million people against 30.7 million. The frequency of orders increased by 55% and reached 17 orders per year per active customer.
According to analysts of the Calltouch platform, Tochka Bank and hh.ru service, according to the results of the second quarter of 2023, the turnover of Russian small and medium-sized businesses in the field of online commerce grew up by 63%. According to their forecasts, by the end of this year, the volume of Internet sales will reach 7.4 trillion rubles.
