Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Donmez said that the country intends to sell up to 40 billion cubic meters of gas per year through the gas hub. He stated this on the air of the NTV channel.
“Out of about 100 billion cubic meters of gas we receive, we use about 60 billion. That is, we can sell the remaining 40 billion. For this, a gas trading center is also being created, ”said Mr. Donmez (quoted by TASS).
The minister added that Turkey was supported by suppliers of reduced natural gas – Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan. He noted that Turkey is already negotiating the sale of gas with potential buyers in Europe.
December 28, 2022 the head of Gazprom Alexey Miller informed on the start of the practical implementation of the gas hub project in Turkey. According to Mr. Miller, the hub will ensure fair and transparent pricing in the natural gas market.
January 3 of the current year, the Ministry of Energy of Turkey reported about the beginning of the construction of the hub. The project of a new gas cluster is being prepared by Russian Gazprom and Turkish Botas. April 8 Mr. Donmez informedthat the Turkish government has adopted the first legislative decisions that simplify the work of oil and gas companies within the gas hub.
