Turkish Energy Ministry confirms agreement with Gazprom to defer payments for gas

Turkey and Gazprom have reached an agreement to defer part of gas payments after a sharp rise in energy prices. This was announced by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez.
“Last year, after a sharp increase in gas prices, we held talks with Gazprom to defer part of the payments, an agreement was reached, and relevant discussions were held. This fully applies to the cycle of payments taken by us under the coordination of the Ministry of Finance and the Treasury, ”Fatih Donmez said on the air of Haber Global (translation via “RIA News”).
According to media reports, the deferment amounted to $20 billion, it will be paid after the elections in Turkey. In a conversation with the TV channel, Mr. Donmez called this figure untrue.
