The “Holy Trinity” icon by Andrey Rublev returned to the Russian Orthodox Church will be delivered to the Grabar Center tomorrow, July 19, RIA Novosti reported, citing a source. Now the relic is in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior; in the center, which is responsible for creating the necessary storage conditions for the icon, a special room with climate control and air conditioning systems has already been prepared.
“The icon will be transported tomorrow,” the agency’s interlocutor said. Earlier, Elena Prokhanova, head of the department for scientific and methodological work and exhibition activities of the Grabar Center, said that an extended restoration council would be held at the end of July, at which experts would decide on further work with the icon.
The icon has been kept in the Tretyakov Gallery since 1929. July, 12 was concluded agreement on the transfer of the Trinity to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra for 49 years with the possibility of extension. Thus, the laurel will now be responsible for the state of the relic.
