Traffic jam to Lithuania from the Kaliningrad region increased to 295 trucks

There was a queue of 295 heavy vehicles to leave for Lithuania from the Kaliningrad region. About it informs press service of the Kaliningrad regional customs.

The department clarified that as of 9 am on July 13, 69 trucks passed through the only Chernyshevskoye checkpoint operating on the Russian-Lithuanian section of the state border towards Lithuania, and 147 towards the Russian Federation. 295 trucks are waiting to enter the republic, another 25 vehicles have already issued by Russian customs officers and located in the neutral zone.

At the press service of the customs reported TASS that the reason for the accumulation of cars lies in the reduction in the speed of work of Lithuanian customs officers. They clarified that they issue up to four cars per hour, earlier – up to 10.

According to the Kaliningrad Regional Customs, over the past 24 hours, employees have registered 122 trucks and 416 cars heading towards Lithuania. In the direction of the Russian Federation, 196 trucks and 431 cars were registered.

Mid-June 2022 due to EU sanctions Lithuania suspended transit of part of the cargo to the Kaliningrad region from other regions of Russia and stopped skipping Russian trucks with goods. According to the authorities of Kaliningrad, about 50% of transit came under restrictions. Transit between Russia and the Kaliningrad region was restored on July 22. Rail transit has resumed, but road transport restrictions remain.
