It is clarified that due to a failure, the automaker cannot order the components necessary to assemble the cars. In the morning, the work of 12 factories was suspended, and later two more enterprises stopped working. According to the Associated Press, the shutdown as a result affected 28 production lines.
The cause of the failure in the computer system has not yet been established. But according to a company spokesman, this is not related to a cyberattack.
According to Reuters, the factories that have suspended work account for about a third of the global manufacturer Toyota. In particular, according to the results of the first half of 2023, about 13,500 cars were produced daily at enterprises in Japan.
Toyota Motor last suspended operations in Japan in March last year. Then the reason was a cyber attack on a supplier of automotive components.
