Tours to Sri Lanka have risen in price by 51%

Starting prices for tour packages with departures from January 18 to 24 from Russia to Sri Lanka increased by 51% compared to the beginning of the month. Price increases were also recorded for tours to Venezuela (23%) and Goa (5%), said press office Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) with reference to the sales statistics of the travel agency “1001 Tour”.
According to ATOR, ten-day tours for two with a departure at the end of January from the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka and Venezuela now cost from 150 to 200 thousand rubles, to Goa – from 100 to 150 thousand rubles.
In a number of directions, ten-day tours with a departure at the end of January have decreased, according to ATOR. In particular, the reduction in the cost of tours in the UAE amounted to 12%, tours to Egypt fell by 2.5%, to Bahrain – by 3%, to Thailand – by 8%, to Qatar – by 9%.
According to the statistics of ticket sales provided by ATOR, the most popular tourist destination for Russians in the period from January 18 to 24 was Thailand (23% of all tickets sold for tours), Egypt is in second place (18.4%), third and the fourth is the United Arab Emirates (17.2%) and Turkey (7.5%). In fifth place in popularity is domestic tourism, ATOR added.
On January 7, a number of Russian tour operators received notices about changing the rules for entering Thailand due to the tightening of coronavirus restrictions in the kingdom. However, after a few days, the decision to verify certificates of completion of the full course of vaccination against COVID-19 was canceled. Kommersant’s interlocutor at the tourist market said that restrictions could reduce demand for destinations by 20%.
