President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed to build a fiber-optic communication line along the Russia-Kazakhstan-Iran route. According to him, this will create an alternative route for transit traffic in the Eurasian space and strengthen the position of the Eurasian Economic Union in logistics.
Fiber optic communications provide protection against unauthorized access and interception of confidential information. Electromagnetic radiation of the optical range is used as an information signal carrier, and fiber-optic cables are used as guiding systems.
“Kazakhstan stands for the comprehensive development of cooperation in the field of information technology. In this vein, I propose to consider the possibility of building a fiber-optic communication line along the Russia-Kazakhstan-Iran route to connect to existing international lines running along the coast of the Indian Ocean,” Mr. Tokayev said at the EAEU summit (quoted from TASS).
Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the summit that Iran is one of the largest economies in the Eurasian region and a technologically developed state. According to the president, strengthening ties with Iran in various fields will be beneficial to all members of the EAEU.
