The popularity of bankruptcies in Russia is growing, statistics from the first quarter show. The number of legal entities declared bankrupt increased by 1.5 times, individuals – by more than 18%. Among citizens, the most significant increase – five times – was shown by the out-of-court procedure, which is increasingly being resorted to by pensioners thanks to the 2023 amendments. Tax authorities are increasingly the initiators of company insolvency – their share has almost tripled year-on-year, which is explained by the need to replenish the budget and more complex debt settlement compared to other creditors.
