Tinkoff Bank explained to Kommersant that it plans to use previously collected photographs of clients for authentication under Law 572-FZ (“On the identification and (or) authentication of individuals…”). Authentication is the process of confirming (verifying) a person, for example, when providing services, to confirm that it was the client who applied for it and not someone else.
“Most of them will become “simplified” biometrics precisely because of their quality; this imposes restrictions on the use of such biometrics in processes and can only be used within the organization that transferred such a photograph,” the bank explained.
Previously, the bank, in its “stories” in the mobile application, asked clients for consent to use photographs of clients taken when checking out products.
The bank also clarified that if you ignore the “story”, that is, remain silent and do not click the “allow” button, this will be considered a “lack of consent” to data processing. Thus, the collection of consents is carried out only by clicking the “allow” button, the bank added.
