Timati offered to buy a network of pizzerias Domino’s Pizza in Russia

Rapper Timati (real name Timur Yunusov) offered the owners of Domino’s Pizza in Russia to buy out the pizzeria chain and rebrand it. Earlier, the owner of the master franchise DP Eurasia announced the launch of bankruptcy proceedings for the Russian division.

“In connection with leaving the country and the bankruptcy of Domino’s Pizza, I ask the management to contact us with (restaurateur Anton Pinsky) and discuss the possibility of buying a pizzeria chain with subsequent rebranding under our leadership,” he wrote on Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).

The rapper also pointed to the already existing “successful experience of cooperation” with Pinsky. At the end of July 2022, Pinsky and Timati bought out the Russian business of the Starbucks coffee chain. The opening of the first point of the updated network called Stars Coffee on Novy Arbat took place on August 18, 2022.

Earlier, the Dutch DP Eurasia, the owner of the Domino’s Pizza master franchise in Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, decided run bankruptcy procedure in relation to the Russian business of DP Russia. The company explained this decision with “increasingly difficult conditions.” After the completion of the bankruptcy procedure, the company will cease to be present in Russia. DP Russia also noted that the unit’s external debt of 520 million rubles. was fully repaid by the Turkish subsidiary from available cash.

The bankruptcy procedure was preceded by the company’s attempts to sell its business in Russia. DP Eurasia reported about them on December 28, 2022. The company then noted that work was underway on a potential deal to sell Russian assets, but “one cannot be sure” of its result.
