Three banks connected to the Russian analogue of SWIFT

Baku is showing interest in the Mir payment system. In addition, three Azerbaijani banks have introduced the Financial Message Transfer System of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation (SPFS), an analogue of SWIFT. This was announced by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov.
“As for the Mir payment system, just like the connection of Azerbaijani banks to the financial messaging system of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, this topic is very, very relevant: three Azerbaijani banks already operate on the basis of the Central Bank’s financial messaging system, there is interest, we see this, and to the use of the Mir payment system,” the minister said (quote from “RIA News”).
Which banks connected to SPFS, the head of department did not specify.
In the beginning of November Vedomosti reported that the government is developing a mechanism for settlements with friendly countries based on the SPFS of the Central Bank of Russia and its analogues in other countries. On November 1, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak announced the planned connection of Iranian banks to the Financial Message Transmission System.
