The very first chronicle of the young humorist on the attacks in Nice sparked a lively controversy. The two presenters of the France 2 morning show made amends on the air this Tuesday.

“Yesterday many of you were rightly struck by a humorous column. Let’s be honest, the chronicle was a failure, it happens and in absolute terms it’s not that bad. Except that in this case it added anger and pain to the victims of the Nice attack, to their loved ones, to their family.debuted Thomas Sotto to start “Telematin”this Tuesday, September 6.

The chronicle to which the journalist alludes dates from the day before. Alexandra Pizzagali made her debut in the morning show of France 2. But her first steps were only a succession of falls. Problem of teleprompter, rhythm, ease… A moment of hesitation which even caused the surprise of the co-presenter, Julia Vignaliwho even thought that the comedian “played the uncomfortable girl”. The atmosphere seemed to relax but the subject covered in this column will clash.

“There is a time for everything when you live this kind of drama”

In this sequence where Alexandra Pizzagali intended to portray “asshole or bitch of the week”the young woman attacked that of Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, responsible terrorist Nice attacks in 2016. On the occasion of the opening of the trial, the actress thought of offering a dark humor sequence on this dramatic event which claimed 86 victims. After a brutal publicity break, the actress concluded her column very seriously by “addressing the victims, their families and loved ones”.

After the showAlexandria Pizzagali posted a message on Instagram thanking “the top benevolence of the ”Télématin” teams and for this zero censorship ».

But this intervention of the comedian deeply shocked the viewers. Yesterday, at the end of the day, France Télévisions apologized in a press release, dissociating itself at the same time from its new recruit. “The management of France Télé and the teams of ”Télématin” regret that a chronicle with a humorous vocation has offended many viewers”.

Remarks reiterated this morning by the two flagship presenters of the program. “A few hours from the opening of the trial, we are deeply sorry. We kindly ask you to accept our apologies and want to assure them of our support, our admiration and our solidarity in the face of the new ordeal they will go through. That’s it, it’s said”asserts Thomas Sotto. On a more personal note, Julia Vignali confides that “The attacks have a very special resonance for her” and judge “there is a time for everything” in the face of these tragedies. “It takes a lot of hindsight to be able to laugh about it one day and sometimes you realize that it is simply impossible”concluded the presenter before launching the summary of the program.
