Their size has not increased since the late 90s

The Ministry of Culture plans to significantly increase scholarships bearing the names of outstanding cultural figures. Draft relevant government regulations have been submitted for public discussion on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts.

The documents refer to the Bulat Okudzhava scholarship established in 1997, which is awarded to the most talented students of the Gorky Literary Institute, scholarships named after Sergei Rachmaninov, Fyodor Chaliapin and Antonina Nezhdanova for music students, paid since 1999, and scholarships for them named after Svyatoslav Richter and named after Georgy Sviridov, as well as a scholarship named after Innokenty Smoktunovsky for students of the Nemirovich-Danchenko School-Studio at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater. Currently, the amount of these scholarships is 300 rubles. From September 1, 2024, their size is planned to be increased to 15 thousand rubles. This time interval is made so that students who are currently receiving 300-ruble scholarships can be guaranteed to receive them before the end of the academic year.

Let us remind you that other scholarships in the field of culture were previously increased; their amount also amounted to 15 thousand. In particular, from September 1 of this year, a scholarship is being paid in the name of the director and president of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, Irina Antonova.
