Kommersant FM columnist Dmitry Butkevich talks about the most striking events in the project.
The Winter Arts Festival is taking place in Moscow under the artistic direction of Yuri Bashmet. This year marks the first anniversary of the festival; it is being held for the fifth time. Among the notable achievements of the anniversary season is the increase in the length of festival events to a whole month (from January 10 to February 10), as well as the increased number of concert evenings (a year ago there were 12, now there are already 18).
A word from the general director of the Russian Concert Agency (operator of Bashmetov festivals) Dmitry Grinchenko:
“We are very pleased that we are holding the festival in Moscow for the fifth time. It feels like we just started just last year, but five years have already passed. This year we also expanded in terms of the number of concerts. I couldn’t refuse anything, to be honest. For a long time we wanted, for example, to hold a concert of Alexander Zatsepin’s music. This is absolutely the initiative of Yuri Abramovich Bashmet, who endlessly told me: “Listen to Zatsepin’s symphonic music!”
An event dedicated to the composer, naturally with his participation, will take place on January 16 at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall.
And among the top events of the Moscow festival, of course, it is worth noting the unique action at the Pushkin Museum. Pushkin exactly on the Old New Year, January 13th. The premiere of the project “Music from Edge to Edge” will be shown here. Bashmet and the “Moscow Soloists” recorded music videos for it for two years in the farthest points of the vast country – from the Curonian Spit and the Rybachy Peninsula to the coast of Kamchatka and Iturup Island. Also this evening, Tchaikovsky’s “Serenade for String Orchestra” will be performed. In the first part, the Soloists will perform live “Memories of Florence,” also by Pyotr Ilyich.
The main theatrical premiere of the festival – the play “Soborians” based on Leskov, directed by Polina Agureeva – will be held at the Theater. Gogol February 5th.
In the Hall named after Tchaikovsky On February 1, a concert of music from the Moscow Art Theater performances will take place, dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the theater. And on January 24, traditionally, the maestro will celebrate his birthday on this stage. They promise something completely unexpected, but don’t reveal the details.
