The solemn ceremony of presenting the national film award “Nika” in 2023 will not take place again. The organizers hope that they will be able to hold it in the spring of 2024. This was announced by the artistic director of the award Julius Gusman.
“This year will not be exactly, all the deadlines have already been missed. We hope to return to the previous format next spring. We hope that in the spring we will be able to gather again and congratulate our colleagues on this award,” said Mr. Guzman TASS.
Julius Gusman added that in 2023, the organizers of the award decided to award Nika figurines to the laureates of 2021, since the award did not take place in 2022. “In 2021, we did not present the awards, there was covid and so on. Therefore, this year we decided to call Nika “distribution of debts,” he said.
According to him, the award for 2021 has already been awarded to the artistic director of the Satire Theater Alexander Shirvindt. The rest of the winners of the statuettes will be awarded before the end of the year.
Nika is a Russian film award, which is awarded annually for Russian films. It was established in 1988 on the initiative of director Yuli Gusman. In 2020, the film award was rescheduled in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 2022 awards ceremony moved for 2023 without explanation.
