First place in the 18th season of the national literary award “Big Book” took writer Evgeny Vodolazkin with the novel “Chagin”, the second – Yuri Buida with the novel “The Gift of Speech”, the third – Alexey Salnikov and his novel “Occulttreger”. The award ceremony took place at the Pashkov House in Moscow. According to information on the award website, those who take first, second and third places will receive 3 million, 1.5 million and 1 million rubles. respectively.
The winners of the “Big Book” were chosen by a jury represented by the Literary Academy, numbering more than 100 people. IN list finalists included:
- Vasily Avchenko (novel “Red Sky. True stories about earth, fire and a flying man”);
- Oksana Vasyakina (novel “Rose”);
- Eduard Verkin (novels “Snark snark. Book 1. Chaginsk” and “Snark snark. Book 2. Snow of Enceladus”);
- Mikhail Vizel (biographical book “The Creator. The life and adventures of Anton Nosik, father of the Runet, trickster, blogger and pioneer, describing three eras of the Internet in Russia”);
- Zakhar Prilepin (biographical book “Sholokhov. Illegal”);
- Dmitry Zakharov (novel “Bridge Protection Committee”);
- Alexey Kolmogorov (novel “OTMA. The Rescue of the Romanovs”);
- Evgeny Kremchukov (novel “The Magic Choir”);
- Rodion Marinichev (story “Komendan”);
- Helena Pobyarzhina (novel “Valsarb”);
- Mikhail Turbin (novel “Above the Ground”);
- Alexander Shalashov (“Fireworks on the other side”).
Oksana Vasyakina received a special prize; the decision on the winner in this category was made by a jury consisting of students from the humanities faculties and the School of Communications of the National Research University Higher School of Economics. Zakhar Prilepin took first place in the popular vote on the LiveLib service, about 5.5 thousand people took part in it. Dmitry Zakharov took second place in the voting, and Eduard Verkin took third place.
