The Wildberries marketplace removed the Russian-language word “Berries” from the name of the main page of the site, which appeared the day before, on August 15, as part of the Black Friday marketing campaign. Now on the main page the former name is Wildberries.
Earlier, the press service of the service did not rule out the possibility of completely changing the name to Russian in the future. “We neither confirm nor deny a possible name change. “Berries” is part of the Black Friday marketing promotion – sale with big discounts – which is currently running with us. The site was also updated in the style of the advertising campaign,” the company said in a statement.
In addition, Tatyana Bakalchuk, the founder of the service, announced the possibility of avoiding foreign words in the site name back in early June at the Russian Retail Week forum. Responding to the remark of Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov about the dominance of foreign names in retail and industry, she did not rule out that the company would think about the possibility of rebranding.
