The volume of sales of the largest marketplaces exceeded 500 billion rubles in the II quarter

In Q2 2022, the sales volume of the top five universal marketplaces exceeded 400 million orders (+80% yoy) and RUB 500 billion. (+73%), analysts of Data Insight calculated. Five marketplaces (Wildberries, Ozon, AliExpress Russia, Sbermegamarket andYandex.Market”) provided 4/5 of the annual growth of the market in terms of the number of orders and 4/7 of the growth in terms of sales in rubles.
The share of the top five marketplaces in the total volume of the Russian e-commerce market in the second quarter of 2022 was 69% in terms of the number of orders and 44% in monetary terms. This is respectively 6 and 7 percentage points higher than a year ago, according to a study by Data Insight.
The company’s analysts interviewed almost 5,000 sellers of the largest platforms, and found out that among them the majority are brand distributors (40-50%), and the share of direct sales from brands on Wildberries is the highest (about 15%). Marketplaces continue to be rated by merchants as a very effective channel with strong growth – 64% of merchants reported an increase in their sales volume on marketplaces over the past year (compared to 46% who reported an increase in the turnover of their own online stores).
Also, the sellers surveyed by analysts plan to expand their assortment in their product categories (74%) over the next year, enter new marketplaces (51%) and start selling in other product categories (50%).
