The total volume of production of aquatic natural resources (ANR) this year will exceed 5 million tons, said the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev at the international fishing forum Global Fishery Forum-2023, which opened today, September 27, in St. Petersburg. Over the entire last year, 4.9 million tons of VPR were caught in Russia.
To date, more than 4 million fish have been produced in the country, the minister said at the plenary session of the fishing industry forum. As of today, 600 thousand tons of salmon species of fish have been caught, which is 2.5 times more than in the same period last year. “This year we plan to cross the 400 thousand tons mark in the production of commercial agricultural crops. Last year, the volume of agricultural crops produced amounted to 380 thousand tons,” Mr. Patrushev informed.
According to the Minister of Agriculture, as part of the first stage of the implementation of the Fisheries Development Strategy until 2030, approved in 2019, 25 fish processing enterprises modernized their fleet with 19 new vessels. When the entire volume of ships of the first stage of the strategy, which is scheduled for completion at the end of 2025, is put into operation, the fleet of the Far East will increase by 40%, and the North – by 40%.
Export volumes of fish products in 2022 amounted to 2.2 million tons, exceeding the 2021 figures by 4%, imports decreased by a quarter. This year these trends will continue. Currently, aquatic products from Russian manufacturers are supplied to 80 countries; in 2022 they were sold to 60 countries, in 2021 – to 58.
At the same time, in recent years there has been a decrease in the consumption of fish products on the domestic market of Russia, especially among young people, noted the participants of the plenary session.
