The head of the Russian Ministry of Energy, Nikolai Shulginov, said that the department will maintain plans for the volume of primary oil refining for 2024 at a level close to last year. In 2023, the volume of oil refining amounted to 275 million tons. According to him, adjustments to repair schedules are being discussed with oil companies due to attacks on several Russian refineries.

“There is potential to increase fuel output at refineries where production has not been stopped. We are discussing with enterprises an adjustment to the schedule of scheduled repairs at refineries in connection with incidents at a number of plants,” Mr. Shulginov told reporters (quoted by Interfax).

March 13 drones attacked oil refinery in the Ryazan region. Another drone shot down on approach to an oil refinery in the Leningrad region. On the same day, the Novoshakhtinsky oil products plant in the Rostov region was attacked. On March 12, a UAV hit the Nizhny Novgorod refinery of LUKOIL.

First Deputy Minister of Energy Pavel Sorokin statedthat, despite unscheduled repair work at some refineries, the needs of the Russian market for both gasoline and diesel fuel will be met. Among the measures that guarantee the required amount of fuel, he named additional loading of installations, the use of reserves, as well as a ban on the export of gasoline. This measure is valid from March 1 to August 31.
