The Union of Grain Exporters named the key buyers of wheat in the new agricultural year

The most active buyers of Russian wheat in the first months of the new agricultural year were the countries of the Middle East and North Africa. About it reported Interfax with reference to data from the Chairman of the Board of the Union of Grain Exporters Eduard Zernin for July and August.
“In the first two months of the new season, Russia shipped a record volume of wheat to foreign markets, exceeding 9 million tons. More than two-thirds of Russian grain is exported to the markets of the Middle East and North Africa,” Zernin emphasized in the document.
He named Egypt as one of the main markets. Also in the new season, demand for Russian wheat in Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh has increased. For the first time, Kenya, Israel, Brazil and Yemen entered the top ten most active buyers.
According to the forecast of the head of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevsky, in the 2023-2024 agricultural year the total volume of Russian grain supplies abroad may exceed last season’s record result of 60 million tons. He noted that in August the country exported 7.7 million tons of grain – also a record figure for the month.
