Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova said at a press conference that the total box office of national cinema in 2023 amounted to 28 billion rubles. with industry expectations at RUB 13 billion. Ms. Lyubimova noted that the task of maintaining the share of national films at the level of 30% was faced by the industry and the ministry. She also spoke about the increase in the number of cinemas: in 2023 there are 2,278 cinemas and almost 6 thousand cinema halls (in 2021 the number of cinemas was 2,179).

Previously RBC with reference to statistics from the Unified Automated Information System (UAIS) of the Cinema Fund, it was reported that in January-September 2023, Russian box office cinemas earned 30 billion rubles, and cinemas were visited by 96.9 million people. Then the top three distribution leaders, according to the UAIS, included Russian films “Cheburashka” (6.7 billion rubles), “Challenge” (2.1 billion rubles), “Three Good Deeds” (1.2 billion rubles) .
