Germany’s Lufthansa and Franco-Dutch Air France-KLM are in talks to buy bankrupt British regional carrier Flybe. The Telegraph citing own sources.

As the newspaper notes, the external management of the company can sell the business to Lufthansa and Air France-KLM within a few days.

Britain’s Flybe filed for bankruptcy on January 28, simultaneously canceling all scheduled flights and halting ticket sales. On the same day, the company was transferred to external management.

Flybe operated flights from Belfast, Birmingham and Heathrow to airports across the UK, as well as to Amsterdam and Geneva.

According to The Telegraph sources, Lufthansa and Air France-KLM are interested in acquiring British carrier slots at London’s Heathrow Airport and Amsterdam’s Schiphol. However, it is impossible to buy them separately, since Flybe is only a tenant, not an owner. Therefore, those who wish will be able to get them only by buying out the airline itself, the sources of the newspaper note.
