Among the municipalities recognized in a state of natural disaster is that of Calvi (Haute-Corse), where a 45-year-old man died, and where several bungalows were crushed by huge uprooted pines. A week ago the island was hit by deadly thunderstorms which resulted in five deaths in total.
Civil security investigation
The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, had promised recognition of the state of natural disaster and the establishment of a “one-stop shop” so that affected companies can “get their insurance very quickly”.
Emphasizing that the weather alert had no “not allowed to qualify these winds as necessary”, who have been “absolutely exceptional”Mr. Darmanin had also announced an investigation by Civil Security.
