The State Duma Energy Committee proposed to allow the purchase of coal on the exchange for state and municipal needs, as well as to work out the possibility of state regulation of coal prices for TPPs in the Far East. This is stated in the recommendations (Vedomosti has it) based on the results of the July meeting of the committee’s expert council. The document notes that they are sent to the relevant federal executive bodies and the government. Valery Seleznev, deputy chairman of the committee, clarified to Vedomosti that the recommendations were gone on August 25.
The discussion within the framework of the expert council was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Energy, the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the SPIMEX Commodity Exchange, as well as “RusHydro» and coal holding SUEK (both companies are present in the fuel and energy complex of the Far East). The materials for the meeting indicate that with the increase in prices for thermal coal on world markets, prices within the country are also growing. Growth for individual generators in 2021, as follows from the document, reached 100-300%.
