The State Duma adopted a law on excise tax on sugary drinks

The State Duma voted in the second and third readings for law on the recognition of sugar-containing drinks as excisable goods. Major Russian beverage producers have opposed the initiative and have already announced cuts in investment and possible layoffs.

Initially, it was assumed that the excise tax would be introduced from the beginning of 2023. However, by the second reading of the bill, the deadline moved for July 2023. In the case of Chernogolovka, we are talking about 5 billion rubles, which were planned to be invested in the construction and expansion of enterprises in several regions by 1 thousand jobs. “Ochakovo” warns of a possible reduction in jobs by 25%.
