The market for New Year’s corporate events is booming. Kommersant FM’s interlocutors note an increased demand for festive events compared to the last two years. At the same time, their prices also increased by an average of 20%. Which stars are trending this New Year? And how much might their performance cost? Alexander Mezentsev will tell you.
The cost of New Year’s corporate events in 2023 has increased primarily due to the increased fees of stars. According to market players, the price of their performances remained virtually unchanged for several years, but now has increased by 15-20%. For example, invite the most popular artists to the event – Anna Asti, Leonid Agutin, Stas Mikhailov, Nikolai Baskov, as well as the group “Hands Up!” will cost from 6 million rubles. up to 8 million rubles, Izvestia reported.
Foreign performers are also invited to corporate events this year, but only on condition of anonymity, says Yuri Miroshnikov, head of the event organizing agency Event Agency Republic Free:
“In 2023, we do not see surges in concert activity, as was the case before, when one popular artist was replaced by another or a group. Nowadays, if they invite a star, they try to combine her performance with another entertainment program, say, with a good cover band.
Regarding foreigners: in the current situation, the fee increases, as the artist spends more time getting there. Companies that can afford it typically enter into non-disclosure agreements with us.”
In 2023, the costs of renting premises, as well as the banquet menu, also increased. “Kommersant FM” found out that the budget for a corporate party for 300 people in Moscow starts from 10 million rubles. For artists, the winter holiday period is very important. According to the producers, during this time they earn 30-40% of their annual income, so they are often ready to perform four times a day. And the increase in fee requests is affected by the increase in concert expenses, notes music producer Joseph Prigozhin:
“The margin for an artist can range from 10% to 30%. Almost all the funds are spent on expenses associated, for example, with outfits, which no one gives today for nothing, with musical instruments, with the team. To my surprise, we have a very active schedule. Zivert, Anna Asti, Valeria – they have a lot of work. Unexpected, because it was worse in 2022, even worse in 2021, but 2023 was effective.”
The closer the event is to New Year’s Eve, the more you have to overpay for it. Artists, for example, double their checks on the eve of a holiday. Almost all event agencies note that it is still possible to order a star to perform at a corporate event – the main thing is to offer good payment. But isn’t there a threat in this case that the artist may simply refuse one performance in favor of another, where the pay is higher? Big Jack CEO Nikolai Andreev assures that the modern market system excludes this:
“Almost all artists have producers who negotiate. And refusing to perform if offered more money, fortunately, is no longer a common practice. Almost everyone has the opportunity to pay by bank transfer, conclude a contract, and do everything legally. But there are nuances. Any artist has a so-called household rider, and if the points are not fulfilled, then the star may refuse to go on stage. And we know such cases.”
However, not all companies are ready to pay for corporate events that have become so expensive. According to the HeadHunter service, a quarter of enterprises have abandoned them altogether this year. Another way to save money is to move the celebration to January, when there are no New Year’s bonuses.
