“I’ll leave out the quality of the material,” says the artist
Singer and composer Igor Kornelyuk is preparing for his 60th birthday. On this occasion, the artist plans to give a concert with a symphony orchestra. New hits will not sound. “MK” the artist admitted: he has long moved away from the song genre.
“I believe that the song genre in Russia is in deep crisis,” says Kornelyuk. – Not only I think so: many of my colleagues. The song, as a genre, is dying, if not already dead before our eyes. Everything that is written today is often not a song by genre. Or it just doesn’t stand up to scrutiny!
– Now everyone admires the singer Shaman. How is he to you?
– Very nice performer, I like it. He has a good voice: young, sonorous, “with metal”. But I will leave out the very quality of the performed material. Although here you can not listen to me. I now live in other dimensions. Firstly, I have not written songs in such a wide format for a long time. I am not interested! I work more with symphonic music. It gives me pleasure. Soon I will have a big concert accompanied by a symphony orchestra. There will be many people on the stage: a choir and a large vocal group.
– Is performing with a symphony orchestra a dream of every artist?
– You know what a thing. In fact, not every artist has a need for this. Most of the songs do not imply symphonic sound. Yes, it’s fashionable. Some rock bands like to perform with a symphony orchestra. But there is no need for this. The orchestra often has purely decorative functions: it can be replaced by guitars, drums … But for me, half of the concerto is music written for a symphony orchestra. Therefore, in this case it is necessary.
