The Sochi heliport Navaginka was reclaimed from the structures of Oleg Deripaska in favor of the Russian Federation

Krasnodar Regional Court confirmed the legality of the decision on the claim of Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Tkachev to claim the Navaginka helipad in Sochi in favor of the Russian Federation. The court agreed with the arguments of the prosecutor’s office about the illegal disposal of a heliport of strategic importance from state property.
The defendant in the process was Development Corporation Yug-Invest LLC, associated with the structures of Oleg Deripaska (the director of the company, Vadim Zaitsev, simultaneously heads Imeretinskaya Riviera LLC, established by the offshore Spitzmar Limited). The Navaginka heliport was removed from the ownership of the Russian Federation in 2006 during the privatization of the property of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Sochi Airport; the owner of the property complex became Sochi International Airport OJSC, then the helipad was transferred to Development Corporation Yug-Invest LLC.
The Prosecutor General’s Office, having checked the circumstances of the transaction, came to the conclusion that the heliport was not subject to privatization, since it was intended to perform the public function of the state to protect the life and health of the population, protect against emergency situations, and conduct search and rescue operations.
Representatives of Development Corporation Yug-Invest LLC objected to the demands of the prosecutor’s office, citing the fact that the company allows the Ministry of Emergency Situations to use the heliport. In addition, the owner of the property indicated that the statute of limitations had passed and that he was a bona fide purchaser. The Central District Court of Sochi, having studied the arguments of the parties, satisfied the claim of the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Tkachev, the regional court agreed with this decision.
