The short list of nominees for the Golden Eagle Award has been published

The dramas of Anton Megerdichev’s The Heart of Parma, Pyotr Todorovsky’s A Healthy Man and Sergey Mokritsky’s The First Oscar were nominated for the Russian national film award Golden Eagle in the Best Film category of 2022. In the nomination “Best Non-Fiction Film” – “Balabanov. Bell tower. Requiem” Lyubov Arkus. This was reported to TASS in the press service of the award.
Also nominated for the Best Film award are Andrey Kravchuk’s action movie Once Upon a Desert and Alexei Sidorov’s drama The World Champion. In the Best Non-Fiction Film category, Ivan Vdovin’s Voices of the Arctic and Andrey Osipov’s Phase of the Moon will compete with Mrs. Arkus’s film. Finnick by Denis Chernov, Cucumbers by Leonid Shmelkov, Blue Lion by Zoya Trofimova are presented for the Best Animated Film.
“The Heart of Parma” is a historical drama, a film adaptation of the novel by Alexei Ivanov. The film tells about the conquest of the Perm principality by Moscow in the 15th century. The movie was released in theaters in October 2022. Until the end of November, the drama topped the box office eight times. As of the end of November, the film has collected more than 800 million rubles.
“Balabanov. Bell tower. Requiem” is a documentary film about director Alexei Balabanov. Lyubov Arkus, in an interview with Ksenia Sobchak, stated that she wanted to show with this film that Balabanov “is more difficult than all relations existing today, both from the patriotic and from the liberal camp.” Since the beginning of the special operation, quotes from Mr. Balabanov’s films have been actively used in support of military operations in Ukraine.
