The share of sales of TV sets of retailers’ own brands amounted to 22.6%

In the first ten weeks of 2023, the share of private label (PL) TV sales by retailers amounted to 22.6% of the Russian market. About it informs “Kommersant” with reference to the data of “F + tech-Marvel”.
In total, 1.55 million TV sets were sold in Russia in 2.5 months, which is 6.6% more than in the same period last year. However, in money terms, the market decreased by 30%, to 39.1 billion rubles, the average price of a device decreased by 35%, to 25,000 rubles. As Alexey Pogudalov, commercial director of Holodilnik.ru, explained, the market decline in monetary terms is associated with a decrease in sales of premium segment TVs, in particular, LG and Samsung.
In the first ten weeks, Xiaomi (9.6%), Haier (8.4%), Hisense (6.5%) and Samsung (5.6%) were among the leaders in sales, in addition to private labels. It is noted that last year Samsung occupied 23.4% of the Russian market, LG – 20.8%, Haier – 5.4%, and Xiaomi – 5.1%. At the same time, the share of private labels was only 13.2%. According to Artur Makhlayuk, a business analyst at F+ tech-Marvel, the share of private labels almost doubled over the year, and every fourth TV set sold in Russia is private label.
According to Holodilnik.ru, in January 2023, TV sales increased by 21.7% year-on-year, to 785,000. However, in monetary terms, they decreased by 11.1%, to 19.9 billion rubles. Citilink noted that in 2022 6.8 million devices were sold, which is 2% less than the results of 2021 in real terms and 4% less in money terms. According to the director of the broadband procurement department Merlion Oleg Fomenko, the TV market in 2022 decreased by 5% in units and by 9% in money terms.
A number of major foreign manufacturers of equipment suspended deliveries to Russia after the start of a special operation in Ukraine. In May 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Trade approved a list of goods for parallel imports, which included more than 50 categories. Among them, including equipment from Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, LG, etc.
