The share of non-cash payments in retail turnover reaches about 82% and will grow by the end of the year, said Olga Skorobogatova, First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank (CB). According to her, there is a growing need for citizens to use modern services, for example, for one-touch payments.

“Unfortunately, because of the sanctions, there have been many difficulties with mobile applications. And we are facing this. This is very significant that people have not gone into cash in terms of payments, people continue to make non-cash payments,” said Ms. Skorobogatova at a press conference (quoted by Interfax).

In June, she said that the share of non-cash payments in retail turnover could grow to 83–84% by the end of the year. Poll of the Central Bank showedthat in 2022 cash was the most popular form of savings for Russians, it was used by 36% of citizens. In May the regulator pointed out increased demand for cash rubles, but associated it with their active use in the regions annexed to the Russian Federation.
