The share of imported equipment in the work of Metalloinvest is less than 20%

Metalloinvest uses less than 20% of foreign equipment in its work. Rinat Ismagilov, Director for Technical Development of Management Company Metalloinvest, spoke about this at conferences “Industrial transition: restructuring of the economy”, which is carried out by the publishing house “Kommersant”.

“We have always focused on the Russian manufacturer. According to Rinat Ismagilov, in 2022, when Western partners left the Russian market, Metalloinvest was forced to suspend some development projects: “We began to look for an alternative. First of all, these are supplies from friendly countries, because most of the high-tech equipment was not produced in the Russian Federation. At the same time, the process of searching for Russian analogues and partners who could produce them was launched.”

As a result, the company managed not only to replace the departed suppliers, but also to keep the deadlines for the implementation of all projects the same. “For 2023, Metalloinvest is 100% loaded, we are working to the fullest,” said the Director for Technical Development.

Rinat Ismagilov also said that consumers of industrial products are now faced with a choice – to buy a Russian prototype or existing equipment from a friendly country. The second option is likely to be cheaper, but a large proportion of components will still be from unfriendly countries, which will inevitably lead to maintenance problems. “Therefore, the focus is on domestic producers. We walk along it and walked all the time,” said Mr. Ismagilov.

At the same time, he called on the government to develop mechanisms that would encourage the purchase of domestic equipment. “You can’t force us to buy (Russian.— “b”.). I am a patriot, I am always ready, but it is necessary that economic incentives work,” he concluded.
