The share of music by foreign authors in VK services does not exceed 15%, said Nikolay Duksin, director of music services at VK. According to him, this is a long-standing trend.
“The share of a foreign catalog has never exceeded 15% in the total volume of consumption in terms of quality, so this trend is a long-standing one,” Mr. Duksin told TASS at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Nikolai Duksin added that the Russian-speaking audience chooses Russian-language content. In his opinion, the trend for such content will continue and be stable.
Mr. Duksin added that more than 50 million foreign tracks are currently hosted on the VK Music service. According to him, now most foreign music copyright holders continue to cooperate with the service. “Indeed, there are circumstances in which some foreign companies and copyright holders have left the Russian market. But it is very important that some of them,” he said.
