Soon, the premiere of the 4th season of the Golyak series, one of the most popular comedy shows of our time, will take place on all world television screens. The plot of the series “Golyak”

Golyak (sometimes the name “Penniless” is found) is a British crime comedy about a gang of provincial gouges trying to break into people. The spirit of this show is reminiscent of a more rowdy and hilarious version of Guy Ritchie’s early films, Snatch or Cards, Money, Two Smoking Barrels.

Winnie, Dylan, Ash and Cardi are bosom friends from the small English county of Lancashire, located in the most impenetrable wilderness of their native island. To earn a living, they trade in a small criminal business: steal cars, solve problems for local businessmen with business competitors. The life of village bums suits them completely, and all they want is to never change. The first episodes of the show consist of individual stories from the life of this small British gang.

But one day their criminal bliss comes to an end, because Dylan’s girlfriend finds out that she is pregnant. She refuses to raise her son in such a wilderness and demands that Dylan move with her to the big city. At the same time, Ash and Cardi steal a thoroughbred horse from a farm in order to sell the animal on the black market. Its owner turns out to be an authoritative mafia who demands a fortune from the guys as damages. Now they will have to get a lot of money by all available means in order to save their lives.

The premiere of “Golyak” took place in 2019. The series was released by the English channel Sky and immediately became one of the most popular programs of all time. The show has now run for three full seasons.

In order to better convey the atmosphere of the British hinterland, the creators decided to take on the main roles, if not the most famous, but very charismatic performers. This cast is primarily assembled to fill every frame with the color of ordinary guys from nowhere, and the team did a great job with this.

The role of the gang leader Winnie was played by Joseph Gilgun, whom many could previously see in the mystical comedy Preacher, the superhero satire The Misfits and the drama This Is England. Interestingly, according to the plot, the character Winnie is diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which Joseph himself suffers from in real life. And this is far from the only feature, because of which he began to consider this story almost autobiographical: “It’s not just about my mental state. I was a bad kid, a lot of rude adults, often running with the guys to smoke in the alleys after school. Once I even got caught selling a banned substance, and since then I decided to change my lifestyle a bit. I won’t go into details, but I think Vinnie is who I could be.”

The “right hand” of the boss and future young dad Dylan was played by Irish actor Damien Moloney. At home, he became famous thanks to the crime series The Suspects and the Netflix sitcom Roommates. According to Damien, the main thing in creating a successful series is not to take its fame for granted: “It’s always nice to be on a show that people love. It was obvious to everyone that Golyak would be something special. But we never for a moment took it for granted and didn’t slow down, trying to maintain the high standards of comedy that we originally set for ourselves.”

And the “muscles” of the team, Ash and Cardi, were embodied on the screen by Aaron Heffernan (Heart Metal) and Tom Hanson (Moorside).

Viewer reviews

The majority of viewers liked the show, and in Russia the series received a particularly warm welcome thanks to the sparkling legendary voice acting from Ruslan Gabidullin.

Among the positive aspects of Golyak, viewers primarily highlight the very atmosphere and style of Guy Ritchie’s films, which the comedy perfectly copies and even parodies. Also, many liked the structure of the plot, in which most of the series is a full-fledged completed dynamic story, although there is also a through plot. Finally, the authors of the reviews simply could not fail to note the very charismatic cast, in which secondary characters sometimes almost outshine the main characters.

However, not everyone was so enthusiastic about the show. Although the majority turned out to be supportive of the story of Vinnie and his gang, some considered the series to be very rotten, unfunny, and to some extent even vulgar. They were not interested in following the development of the plot because of its tiring monotony. Of course, there were also those who consider the very idea of ​​​​creating a story about cute bandits simply immoral.

Release date of the 4th season of the series “Golyak”

The latest episode of the show aired on October 28, 2021. Almost a year has passed since that day. And recently, the producers of Golyak delighted fans with the news that the premiere of the fourth season will take place in less than a month, on September 7, 2022. At the same time, there are no plans for an official release in Russia, although in the past the series was released on domestic streaming platforms.

As for the details of the plot, little is known about it yet. Vinnie and his guys are sure to return to their native Lancashire after escaping to the big city in the third season. The creators also promise separate series about the theft of antiques, a big robbery, training of fighting dogs and an attempt to investigate a mysterious murder.
