The segment of digital content in Russia at the end of 2022 fell by 52% to 73.6 billion rubles

The volume of digital content in RuNet at the end of 2022 decreased by 52% year-on-year and amounted to 73.6 billion rubles, follows from the RAEC report. It is specified that the segment of online games for the same period fell by 78%, to 21.8 billion rubles, the segment of online music decreased by 40% year-on-year, to 7.1 billion rubles. At the same time, the online video segment grew (by 7% to RUB 33.3 billion), while the digital books category showed no growth in 2022 (RUB 11.3 billion).
RAEC predicts that in 2023 the segment of digital content in Runet will grow by 7%. The following factors will affect this: growing interest in Russian content, entry of content from Asian countries into the market, and an increase in the number of ecosystem users. In addition, the association assumes that government support for content producers and regulatory initiatives (regulation of content and recommender services) will also help the segment grow in 2023.
