At the end of 2023, the profit of the Russian tourism industry reached almost 280 billion rubles, said the head of the Ministry of Finance Anton Siluanov. He presented these data at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin on tourism development.

“I would like to give two figures that the tourism industry has become very investment-intensive and profitable. Over the past year, the profit of the tourism industry was almost 280 billion rubles, which is approximately 2.3 times more than in 2019. That is, we see that the industry is growing and becoming attractive from a business point of view,” said Mr. Siluanov (quoted by TASS).

He clarified that the tasks set by the president for the development of tourism will be achieved from the budget. But the minister considers it necessary to control “that extra-budgetary investments follow budgetary funds.” “Our plans and presentations say that 1 ruble of budget money should attract 5 rubles of private funds,” added Anton Siluanov.

Vladimir Putin at a meeting stated about the need to pay special attention to the development of active tourism in the regions. According to the forecasts he voiced, by 2030 the contribution of the tourism industry to Russia’s GDP will double, to 5%. He called for the development of active tourism infrastructure throughout the country.
