The Russian subsidiary of Danone will produce Actimel under a new brand

Russian Health & Nutrition (H&N, a subsidiary of Danone transferred to Russian management) will produce the probiotic fermented milk product Actimel under a new brand – Actimuno, should from the company’s message.

“The probiotic fermented milk product Actimel is localized in Russia and will be produced under the new name Actimuno. The changes will affect the brand name and packaging design,” the press release says.

H&N emphasized that the production technology and product recipe will remain the same. The new name will correspond to its beneficial properties, since the drink uses an exclusive probiotic strain of lactobacilli L. Casei Actimunis (L. casei CNCM I-1518) in a constant amount of 2.2 * 108 COE/g.

July 19 Vedomosti wrotethat Danone Russia has submitted applications to Rospatent to register the trademarks Maximel, Actimunis and Actibifidus in classes 28, 30 and 32 of the International Classification of Goods and Services. Previously, the company had already stopped producing yogurts and curds in Russia under the Activia brand, renaming it “Aktibio”.

Danone’s Russian business was transferred to local management in October last year. On July 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which shares in the Russian subsidiary owned by foreign companies are transferred to temporary management of Russia. At the end of July, Danone announced a write-off of 200 million euros after the transfer of assets to Russian management. In August in the company toldthat the Russian legal entity JSC Danone Russia will be renamed H&N during the period from September 18 to September 24, 2023.
