The Russian smartphone market recorded record sales since 2020 – Kommersant

For the first time since 2020, the Russian smartphone market recorded a record sales in units, MTS told TASS. From January to November 2023, 27 million devices were sold in Russia. Compared to 2022, the figure increased by 28.5%, compared to 2021 by 4%.
MTS analysts attributed the sales growth to the activity of retailers. In addition, over the past three years, the domestic smartphone market has experienced a decline in demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the restructuring of supply chains, MTS noted. “However, now the market, in terms of its capabilities and potential, is gradually returning to the level of 2019,” the company concluded.
According to the Wildberries platform and operators Tele2 and Beeline, on the eve of the New Year the average price of smartphones will be 26–27 thousand rubles. New Year prices for smartphones will be 15–20% higher than last year. The main factor behind the rise in device prices was the rise in exchange rates.
