The legal entity of the Swedish streaming music service Spotify in Russia has ceased operations. According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Spotify LLC was liquidated on December 14.

The legal entity was created on January 13, 2014. Spotify stopped operating in Russia on April 11, 2022, amid Russia’s deployment of troops to Ukraine. The application for liquidation of Spotify LLC was filed on February 6, 2023.

The music streaming market in Russia in 2022 fell by 30–50%. Experts believe that in 2023 the growth could be up to 20%, but it is held back by pirated applications and services that allow you to buy subscriptions to Spotify and Apple Music, which have stopped working in Russia.

Read more about the market in the Kommersant article. “The music was muffled by the grayness”.
